“Elefante blanco(白い象)”, Pablo Trapero, 2012, Argentina
　ラテンアメリカの大都市の周辺部では多くのスラム街が形成され、非人間的な環境のもとで暮らすことを強いられる。一方、カトリック神父には放縦で保守的でしかないものも多いが、人々のことをじつに気にかけているひとたちが少ないけれどいる。愛の名のもとに貧しいひとに手を差し伸べようとするが、物理的に、つまり住居など生活環境の改善にも留意する。ブエノスアイレス市のかつて巨大病院が構想されたところは、いまでは廃墟になっているが数人の神父グループが貧しいひとたちのための住居の建設にいそしむ。しかし貧しいひとは自ら二分して互いに争ったり、外からは権力や警察からは敵視されるので、神父たちにとって公平さをまもるのはたいへん。しかも神父グループ内でも見解の相違をめぐってトラブルも発生。これだけの多くの問題にもかかわらず、神と愛の力によって少しずつ計画は前進する。ときとして神父グループは自らを犠牲に捧げなくてはならない。ほとんどひとの力とは思えない、これも信仰のなせる業であろうか。世界の片隅にはこれほどの努力を惜しまないひとたちもいるというのはじつに感動的。観ていて、ああ、と嘆声をもらしてしまう。
（ラテンアメリカの問題、あるいはスラム、マイナー層の問題については、愛をうんぬんするまえに構造的改革をしなくては意味がないと思うひともいるであろう。具体的には社会的不公正をどう是正するのか。そこに信仰の限界をみるひともいるだろう。この映画に生ぬるいと思うひともいると思う。それもひとつの意見であり、現実認識である。）

While many priests are self-indulgent or not so serious, here we have a vision of the passion of ambitious priests for the wealth of the people of poverty, in Argentine slum. The poor people don’t have residence like a human being there. Moreover, the poor people are in conflict dividing themselves into two parts. For these priests there, everyday are series of struggle. In Latin America some people think the poor people would fight against the rich people, under the justification of the violence, or at least in the name of the defense.Nevertheless this group of the Argentine slum seek for the love above all. Some times in the center of these priests there are some disagreement. But, they can overcome these hardship throughout the happiness of the poor people. At any rate in this world there a re people who try to save the unfavorable minority.

En las ciudades latinoamericanas casi siempre hay zonas marginadas con la pobreza. Viven como las zonas de slum. Mientras hay muchos curas que viven al azar, la minoria catolica trata salvar la gente, no solamente de sus almas sino tambien sus condiciones de la vida. En la zona marginal de Buenos Aires, alrededor del Hospital gigantesco que se fracaso de su construccion, un grupo de los curas batallan por construir las viviendas dignas. Sin embargo, suceden culaquier tipo de problema. Hasta la gente marginada se divide en dos partes y se pelean mutuamente. El poder o la policia tambien le considera como el enemigo de la sociedad. Ademas, dentro de grupo de los curas tambien hay diferencia de ideas o punto de vista. En verdad, llevar a cabo algun plan es dificilisimo, pero los curas enfrentan con estos problemas manteniendo la imparcialidad, y mas que nada en nombre del amor. A veces hay que sacirificarse uno misimo. Esta obras cinematografica es maravillosa.
( En America Latina hay problemas muy fundamentales, y sin cambiar drasticamente, a la mejor. los problemas esenciales no se modificaran. Eso quiere decir que lo que se necesita es la fuerza o el amor. Hasta donde el amor puede cambiar la sociedad? Puede haber la gente que no esta tan satisfactoria con esta obra, a eso reconozco)
