イギリス人の著したこの原作小説はその翻訳が白水社から刊行されていて、わたしはとても気になっていた。なぜ中東で鮭、と頭は？でいっぱいになった。そしてひとたび映画作品を覗いてみると、さまざまなテーマが巧みに収斂しているのに驚いた。ブンガクというのは、どうしても分断化、破片化した現実をあつかうほうに流れていくことが多い傾向がいまはある。それを、これだけ巧みにまとめこむ手腕にわたしはすっかり感心してしまった。いわばブンガクの始原の姿でもある、というなら大げさにひびくだろうか。ただ映画としてはおそらくロマンスの要素が目立ち過ぎ、鼻についた。でもまだハリウッドでないだけいいか。とにかく、あらゆるレベルにおいて、いまだパッションに従って生き、動いてる人たちがいるというのに心を動かされる。

This is a work I paid attention because of the marvelous title concept. Besides the Japanese translation of the original novel attracted Japanese attention, too. To my surprise, this work holds many kinds of the subjects, from the fisheries until the diplomacy. I guess, unfortunately as a movie, the love affair took part in considerably. But we can find a certain passion apart from this romance. Good luck for those who have a dream in their lives!

Esta es la filmacion de la famosa novela Britanica, y porque su traduccion japonesa tambien gano la fama, me interesaba mucho en esta obra como un cine. Primero, este titulo es muy curioso. Pero pronto me di cuenta de la variedad del tema, quiere decir que empezando de la pesca, encontramos en la politica exterior de Inglaterra. Como la consecuencia, el cine tiene la necesidad de atraer el publiuco y este caso, una manera del romance. Pero, de todos modos, podemos encontrar en lo que se llama la pasion.
