この作品では、サッチャーの政治およびその人間の全体像をすべて描きだそうと試みる。イギリスというのはヨーロッパでもとりわけ頑固で個人的なので時流についていくのに苦労する。いわゆる英国病とかいうのもある。それらにサッチャーは敢然と立ち向かったのだともいえる。しかしそれは強硬なものとならざるうぃえず、ちりわけＩＲＡとの対立に悩む。しかし政治上の功罪を映画のなかで裁くわけにもいかない。サッチャーの老後の弱々しい姿、そこからイルージョンのように浮かんでくる昔のことは、どうしてもノスタルジーのようなものを漂わせてしまい、公正な客観的な判断を拒んでしまう。そこには政治家の姿ではなく、モータルな存在としていわばわたしたちとおなじ人間が描かれているだけで、同情を誘わずにはおかない。こういったふたつの次元のことを混ぜ合わせるのは、きわめて狡猾であり、問題のすり替えが行われているとわたしは訴えたいのである。マルビナス諸島のトラブルは、イギリスもアルゼンチンも、どっちもどっちというところがあるが、あまりに闘争的になりはてたサッチャーの勇み足だと思わないわけにはいかない。
この作品を盛りたてる最大のポイントは、いわばメリル・ストリープの演技力そのものである。

As we know partially, the United Kingdom has some dilemma as a nation or as an individualism. In a sense Thatcher wanted to overcome these conflicts, but in reality her politics was too drastic to follow or to be accepted. More than these historical facts, we can observe a shrewd trick in this cinematographic work. Thatcher’s politics from the point of view of engaging our sympathy, namely, her actual sad condition. There is no space to accept the political judgment. The audience have a temptation to forgive her politics gazing at her figure as a symbol of the mortal human nature in general. So I point out a kind of switch of the matters we have to examine.

En cierto sentido, su politica intentaba confrontar con los propios problemas de la Inglaterra. Pero es el trabajo demasiado, por eso Thatcher tuvo que recurrir a la fruerza o la dureza. De todos modos, es la cuestion politica. El problema es que la estrucutura de esta obra esta basada en la actual condicion de Thatcher. En vista de la imagen expuesta de Thatcher como un ser humano en un apuro, no podemos observarla sin atencion humanitaria. En ese punto indico que es la obra muy astuta, que no acepte la critica. Ademas la actuacion de Meryl Streep es formidable.
