イシュトヴァーン・サボーは、ハンガリーが誇る映画監督であり、印象的な大作を発表してきた。しかしここ数年、その名を聞くことがなかった。６年ぶりの作品である。じつは６年とちょっと前に体制のインフォーマントであることが発表されておおきなインパクトをあたえたが、その真偽はそれほどはっきりしているわけではないらしい。実際、おなじような体制下でクンデラやらグラスも毀誉褒貶がはげしい。
　この作品では、いままでの作品より抑えたトーンであるが、大戦やら戦後政治などの余波を語っていく。内省的ともいえるし、暮らしというものが前に出てきている。これを円熟とでもいえばいいのだろうか。描かれているもの以上を感じ取れそうである。

The Hungarian prominent director István Szabó made a film after 6 years of interruption. Why did he make another film? I knew there was a scandal of his career as a informant of the regime. It’s half confused, about his responsibility. Same problem was concerned with Milan Kundera o Gunter Glass.
Now this movie has a tiny voice, and very silent, although as usual they talk some tragedy in the past. Specially between two women, we can impressed the carved seal of the War and the Politics.

István Szabó es el eminente director cinematografico de Hunguria, y me gustan sus obras. Pero hace tiempo que no lo he visto. Es que filmó despuées de 6 años de interrupcion. Porqué? Me enteré que habia escandalo que el era un informante del regimen. La verdad es medio confusa. Bajo este tipo de regimen, como sucedieron a Milan Kundera o Gunter Glass, etc, hay ocasiones que tenian pocas opciones.
En esta obra, en lugar del drama majesuoso, se narra con las voces bien frenada, pero acerca de la Guerra y la Politica posguerra. Cierto que István Szabó esta vivo.
